Public Sector SIG

Why have we developed this special interest group?
HROA and IPMA-HR joined together to create this special interest group because No entity – whether an association or a governmental body – is adequately addressing the needs (e.g., informational., technical, educational and professional) of those seeking to transform their organizations’ human resources function. Together, we bring specialized knowledge, experience and abilities that can aid and abet the transformation journey of public sector organizations.
What is the purpose of the SIG?
- Establish a community of interest among participants in public sector HR transformation
- Break down artificial barriers set up between types of participants: HR practitioners, Service providers, Technology vendors , Advisors, Government procurement/acquisition officers, Lawyers, Academicians
- Generate materials that fill the information void
What will the SIG enable?
- Networking – Meet others who are guiding and directing HR transformation initiatives in other agencies and departments. Build relationships with those who could advise and assist.
- Continuous learning – Hear from others about their HR transformation journey. Find out what they did right and what they would have done differently.
- Access to valuable resources – Receive materials that may be helpful to you in your organization’s HR transformation journey (e.g., case studies, whitepapers, tools, templates, etc.).
- Fuller understanding of what is possible – Benefit from the knowledge and experiences of others in the private sector and elsewhere in the public sector. See how their situation may be applicable to yours.
- Knowledge of the market players – Come to know better the various community participants, including agency executives, private sector HR practitioners, SSCs, service providers, technology vendors, consultants and sourcing advisors.
