Ceridian Centrefile announced today that it has signed a contract with WHSmith, the retail and news distribution group, to take over the management and processing of its payroll, time & attendance and HR administrative processes. The contract term is for seven years, and includes the payroll for its 25,000 UK employees across 700 branches.

Currently operated in-house, the payroll will be transferred to Ceridian Centrefile's integrated HR and payroll solution. Ceridian Centrefile will take over the management and administration of the payroll and selected HR processes, such as starters and leavers. The solution includes the implementation of time & attendance software to automate recording and data collection from the stores. It also delivers comprehensive online management enquiry and reporting, plus HR self-service access for all office-based staff.

Tanith Dodge , Group HR Director at WHSmith, says:

"Following a strategic review across the business, we decided that we could improve efficiency and add value to our HR processes by outsourcing. We chose to partner with Ceridian Centrefile, because we recognise their experience of the retail sector and are convinced that they are best placed to deliver our vision."

Bruce Thew , President of Ceridian International, says:

"We are delighted to welcome WHSmith to our long list of retail clients, for whom we now pay over half a million high street employees. Our leading position is due to our in-depth experience of the unique challenges faced by the retail industry to deliver, cost-effectively, accurate and efficient HR and payroll processes in a high turn-over, multi-site business."
