Wachovia Corp., a North Carolina based bank, will outsource HR functions to Hewitt Associates, and cut up to 150 workers in the process.

In a move to cut expenses by $1 billion by 2007, Wachovia has already announced in June its plan to outsource some technology work to as many as three companies with operations in India.

Under the seven-year agreement, Hewitt will provide contact center, payroll, learning and benefits outsourcing to more than 90,000 Wachovia employees.
