Employers are increasingly outsourcing their recruitment activities based upon a recent survey of human resource executives conducted by InSearch Worldwide.

Over 32% of respondents are currently outsourcing part or all of their professional level recruitment activities to a third party provider. Among those users, about 60% are planning to further expand their use of outsourced recruiting services. Recruitment outsourcing is primarily being utilized to improve time to hire, better enhance talent levels, strengthen the quality of recruitment and consolidate recruitment activities for these organizations. An additional 15% of employers are also planning to outsource part or all of their recruitment function in the near term.

Over 40% of organizations outsourcing recruitment are utilizing it for all professional level hires. Recruitment outsourcing is being used for specific business units or functions by the other users with IT recruitment being the most common function being outsourced.

While comprehensive HR business process outsourcing has received a great deal of discussion recently, about 40% of survey respondents prefer to utilize a recruitment outsourcing specialist versus 6% preferring an HR outsourcing generalist for recruitment activities. The recruitment outsourcing specialist is preferred largely due to their recruitment expertise. The primary selection criteria for selecting a specialist recruitment outsourcer is their recruiting experience, performance track record, functional and industry knowledge.
