Hewitt Associates announces the addition of two independent directors to its board of directors

Hewitt Associates, Inc. (NYSE: HEW), a global human resources outsourcing and consulting firm, today announced the election of two independent directors to the Company's board of directors at its Annual Meeting of Stockholders held Jan. 28, 2004.

The two new directors are Michael E. Greenlees, former executive vice president of Omnicom Group, Inc., and Steven P. Stanbrook, president, Asia, of S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. In connection with these elections, Alberto Santos, Jr. and Judith A. Whinfrey, whose terms expired at the 2004 Annual Meeting of Stockholders, have chosen to retire from the board. Mr. Santos and Ms. Whinfrey will continue as employees of the Company.

"The skills and expertise of our new directors complement our existing board members. Their collective knowledge and experience will bring oversight and valuable perspective that will help us continue to expand our leadership position within the global human capital management industry," said Dale L. Gifford, Hewitt's chairman and CEO. "With this election, we now have ten board members, six of which are independent directors."

Michael Greenlees is former EVP of Omnicom Group, Inc., the holding company for a number of advertising and marketing services businesses. Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of TBWA Worldwide and chairman and chief executive of GGT Group plc, a London-based advertising and marketing services group.

Steven Stanbrook is president, Asia, of S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc., a manufacturer of consumer products. Mr. Stanbrook served as president of S.C. Johnson's business in Europe, Africa, and Near East prior to assuming his current role. Before joining S.C. Johnson in 1996, Mr. Stanbrook was president - International of CompuServe. He also held various international management positions at Sara Lee Corporation, including president and CEO of Sara Lee Bakery. Mr. Stanbrook currently serves on the board of directors of Chiquita Brands International, Inc.
