Federal Agencies Still Reaching to Compete for Top Talent

DESPITE ADVANCES IN RECRUITING, FEDERAL AGENCIES STILL REACHING TO COMPETE FOR TOP TALENT

Futurestep Sees Heightened Demand from the Public Sector

WASHINGTON, DC, April 14, 2008 - Futurestep, a Korn/Ferry Company (NYSE: KFY), has announced that it will be increasing its focus on government sector recruitment services in response to amplified demand from public sector clients. The company, specializing in Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) and mid-level talent recruitment, has seen a strong need for its services from federal agencies.

"Agencies have dramatically improved their ability to compete with the private sector for talent among the general service positions, " says Futurestep Government Practice Leader Adam Davidson. "However, for difficult-to-find talent, and mid- and top-level management, they still face an uphill battle in finding and attracting the right people, which is why we're seeing an increased demand for recruitment services."

Among the issues faced by agencies is the ability to reach out to "passive candidates" who have the desired skills but are not actively seeking new employment. "Passive candidates require active recruiting," notes Davidson. "It's more than just being efficient in handling the people in the candidate pipeline, it's about constant networking, building relationships, and attracting the right people to apply. They don't have the resources to do that, but we do."

Recent successes for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reveal the role that recruitment service providers will continue to play in government sector recruitment. "We helped the SEC streamline its processes, improve its employment brand, and reach out to extremely difficult-to-find financial experts who were also being courted by large investment banks," says Davidson.

Futurestep has provided similar services to a variety of organizations in the government sector, as well as companies serving government sector clients, including The Millennium Challenge Corporation, a government agency aimed at reducing poverty around the world. Futurestep has also played a key role in partnering with contractors, such as Northrop Grumman, Deloitte and Accenture, to improve their overall recruitment processes.

"Today, recruitment services providers play an important role in addressing the demand for high-level skills and management talent among public sector employers," says Davidson. "Agencies will continue to evolve their recruiting capability, but services such as RPO, management search, and other key offerings from recruitment services providers will continue to fill a vital need for top talent."
